When the Dot NET universal domain name extension was first established in 1985, together with the first domain extensions on the web, it was supposed to be used by Internet Service Providers or infrastructure entities. Given that there were no special terms about the usage of the TLD, though, .NET domains were purchased and used for different purposes and by a huge number of people. This extension represents a wonderful substitute of dot COM, particularly if the desired domain with the latter extension is not available for registration.

You can easily edit the WHOIS information of the domain through your Control Panel tool, or, if you don't wish this information to be visible at all, you can purchase a Whois Privacy Protection service, so nobody will be able to see your real contact info.

The dot NET top-level extension supports internationalized names, so you can choose whether you want to concentrate on a specific country or area using a domain name in the native language, or the global online community – using a generic English name.
